SS 317/317L Welded Pipes have welded seam on its surface. These pipes can be welded by the welding joints. These welded pipes are fabricated from strips that are rolled formed and welded to produce a pipe. Stainless steel welded pipes can be manufactured in long continuous lengths. However, in the welded area there may chance of corrosion if it is not coated. The welded section of pipe is inhomogeneous that possess malleability.

SS 317L Welded Pipes are an extra-low carbon version from 317 series. It is combined with chromium and nickel content and considered as an austenitic grade. In addition to molybdenum content that increases general corrosion resistance property. Also, it has improved pitting resistance in chloride-ion environments. When 317 alloys are annealed its structure turns to non-magnetic. These welded pipes cannot be hardened by heat treatment operations; however, cold working operations work best on it.

SS 317/317L Welded Pipes also work on the chemical containing environments such as nitric acids, phosphoric acids, acetic acids and other chemical containing environments. The low carbon content provides good resistance to intergranular corrosion. However, it can be exposed in the chromium carbide precipitation in the range of 800 deg F to 1500 deg F.
