Alloy description-
Alloy stainless steel 316 and 316L alloy is the molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless SS. The greater molybdenum and nickel alloy content in this grade allows it in demonstrating the overall resistance to corrosion properties, particularly with crevice corrosion and pitting in the chloride atmosphere. Additionally, 316/316L alloy is providing the good elevated temperature tensile, stress rupture and creep-rupture properties and excellent weldability and formability. 316L is the low carbon version of alloy 316 and also it is immune from the sensitization and it is used frequently in the heavy gauge welded tools.
