In mixtures of nitric and hydrofluoric acids such as those used in pickling of stainless steels and reprocessing of nuclear fuel elements, Inconel 800 Bars has displayed excellent corrosion resistance. Inconel 800HT Bars is more stable than Inconel 690 bars in melts between 1000 Degree C and 1190 Degree C. Inconel 800H Bars can be machined using conventional machining methods which are used for iron-based alloys. Machining operations in Inconel 800 Round Bars are performed using commercial coolants. Inconel 800H Round Bars has high toughness and strength in the temp range of cryogenic to 1093 Degree C which is resultant mainly from the solid solution effects of the refractory metal, molybdenum and columbium, in a nickel - chromium matrix.
Inconel 800HT Round Bars is welded using shielded metal-arc welding, gas-tungsten arc welding, submerged-arc welding methods and gas metal-arc welding. The use of columbium, nitrogen and vanadium or combinations in Alloy 800 Hex Bars, within certain limitations shall be at the option of the producer. Alloy 800H Bright Bars is cold worked by using standard tooling. The service temperature for Alloy 800H Flat Bars should be kept below 1250 Degree F.
